About

Antyoday Institute of Sciences and Research Centre, Devgram has a women's study centre which was set up with the support of UGC to organise various courses and activities for raising awareness about gender issues. From the inception of the centre, many students have been actively participating in various activities of the centre. In our Society, Women are treated secondary; injustice takes place against them in various fields of day to day life. There is a need to understand reasons, impacts and curative action plans to curb this evil of Women's discrimination. By understanding this need, the field of Women's Studies are developed in India.

We are committed to build a gender-just human society and make a difference in the lives of women by empowering them.

Mission

Our mission consists of knowledge creation and dissemination, capacity building and women's leadership development, networking and coordination.

Aim

The prime aim of the Women Study Centre is to create awareness and sensitivity towards women's issues in every field.

Objective

  • To raise awareness about gender equality and sensitivity.
  • To foster leadership quality among students.
  • To provide a platform for women empowerment.
  • To study the problems of women and to make effort to solve their problems.
  • To orient students about employment.
  • To create awareness regarding health and education of women in the society.

Plan / Initiative:

  • The centre tries to associate the women's study agenda to the regular curricular work prescribed for various courses.
  • It tries to promote networking and collaboration among various institutes, agencies, NGOs and individuals working in this area.

Eco-Friendly Pot Making Activity (15 November 2022)

Women's Study Center in collaboration with The Cell of Plastic Free Campus and NSS & Entrepreneurship Development Cell organized an Eco-friendly pot making activity on 14th November 2022 in the backyard of the college campus. The activity was started with students of B.Com and will be ongoing with the students of BA, BSc for making sufficient amounts of pots which will be used for gifting the guests of the college with the name "Jeevan". The theme of the programme was "Environmental Awareness". These pots were made from eco-friendly products of clay, cow dung and wood waste. For this, the training of this pot making was given by Ms. Sushma Paraye madam. The inauguration of the event was done by Dr. Raju Shrirame sir, Vice-Principal of the college, who was the chairperson of the programme. Dr. Mangesh Acharya sir was the chief guest and Dr. Praveen Gharpure was the guest of honour of the event. In total, 10 students of BCom participated in the event. Around 110 visitors visited the activity which includes students and teachers of the college. The introductory speech of the programme was given by Ms. Pranali Ingole madam and anchoring with vote of thanks was given by students of BCom. The chairperson motivated the students through his speech for encouraging their participation in such programmes and wished them best of luck. He also congratulated the organizing team for the success of the event with his inspiring words.
